Training in Addis Ababa
The tourism industry is hard enough, but to operate and look at potential evolution during periods of internal conflict is particularly difficult. In conjunction with the Ethiopian Tour Operators’ Association, we delivered a ten-day training program to group of twenty local tour operators that focussed on packaging, developing new programs and identifying new markets that would be less affected by the country’s political upheaval.
It was a fascinating project, and several new initiatives were launched, several operators were able to streamline their offerings and many were able to incorporate some of the technical packaging information to their operations. Now we have to wait for the political climate in East Africa to settle, and look to the new initiatives that we worked with to gradually bring the industry back to its potential
